A Kingdom Shaken: Replacing Man's Altar with God's Altar

The book of Hebrews tells us that everything that can be shaken will be shaken.  Here is what it says:

Hebrews 12:26-28 (New International Version)

At that time His voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”  The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

The kingdom of "college football" has been shaken.  The kingdom of "higher education" has been shaken.  The state of "Pennsylvania" has been shaken.  The "nation" has been shaken.  How has this happened?  Because something terrible that had been going on for a long time has been revealed, exposed, for all to see.  Because those who have been set on high in our world have been brought down to their knees.  Their worlds has been rocked, shaken, or shattered.

After a week of the revelation of disturbing things, we have finally seen a bright spot.  And, it's on the front page of Harrisburg's Patriot News, Sunday edition, November 13, 2011.  What is the bright spot?  The headline boldly reads, "FIRST, A PRAYER".  When I saw this headline, I was encouraged because it is now evident that God is doing something.  He is shaking the kingdoms of the world.  He is bringing down that which has been set on high by us.

Another headline in the newspaper is "During moment of unity, Penn State's game becomes an afterthought".  Through a series of events by individuals, the coaches and players from both teams gathered on the 50 yard line of the Beaver Stadium and conducted what could be seen as a turning point from what was to what will be.  There's no need for me to repeat the impacting words of this article.  I recommend them for your reading at this link.  You will be encouraged.    "During A Moment of Unity, a Football Game Becomes an After Thought."

Could it be?  Could it be that we are on the edge of a new day in some respects in the removal of man's altars and the establishment of God's altars?   Could it be that the physical space at the 50 yard line of Beaver Stadium is forever changed?  Could it be that Beaver Stadium is forever changed?  Could it be that the people who participated and witnessed this event are forever changed?  Yes, it could be.

There are various scriptures that say, "Everything was made by and for Jesus for the glory of God".  I interpret that to mean "EVERY THING".  NO THING is left out.  Therefore, Beaver Stadium was made by and for Jesus for the glory of God.  Yes, football is played there, but the events of Saturday, November 12, 2011 could be the start of Beaver Stadium being used for the glory of God.  Someday, Beaver Stadium will be filled with over 100,000 people, not for football, but solely for an event that will involve bringing glory to God.  It's only a matter of time.  Old altars are being taken down.  New altars are being put in place.

"Through his power all things were made—things in heaven and on earth, things seen and unseen, all powers, authorities, lords, and rulers.  All things were made through Christ and for Christ.  He was there before anything was made, and all things continue because of him." 1 Colossians 16-17

Things are being shaken.  Do not be surprised when it happens, because EVERY THING that can be shaken will be shaken.  And the result will be good because "we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken.  So let us be thankful, and let us worship God acceptably with reverence and awe."
