Sunday, March 7th was Day 19 of the 2021 Easter Season.

On that day I read Luke 16:14-18.

In that passage Jesus said . . . . . .

"The law and the prophets were until John [The Baptist].

Since that time, the Kingdom of God has been preached

and everyone is pressing into it."

For some reason, that verse struck me in it's uniqueness.  I think it impacted me because it's one of those verses that presents a defining moment in all of scripture, a pivotal moment.

In Luke 16:16, Jesus presents the pivotal change that took place with the coming of John the Baptist. Before John, we have the law and the prophets, which we call the Old Testament.  With the advent of John, we have the preaching of the Kingdom of God, which we call the New Testament.

The NEW TESTAMENT does not replace the OLD TESTAMENT .

The NEW TESTAMENT  fulfills, completes, the OLD TESTAMENT .

We must consider the importance of this transition from the Old Testament to the New Testament understanding that one does not exclude the other.

A common saying is.

“The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed.

The New Testament is the Old Testament is revealed.”

John the Baptist recognized and announced the arrival of the Kingdom of God in Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

As we journey through these 96 days from Ash Wednesday to Pentecost Sunday, as we consider the final journey of Jesus to Jerusalem as presented in Luke, Chapter 9 to Chapter 19, let us consider this pivotal moment when John the Baptist came and announced the arrival of the Messiah.  Let us consider this pivotal moment when we are offered the opportunity to accept Christ and enter into the Kingdom of God.

My words are insufficient to express what my heart wants to say.

LOOK AT HIM, LOOK AT JESUS, LOOK AT WHAT HE DID FOR US.
